When a Print document does not generate correctly, the cause is almost always one of these four things.
Blank variables
- Symptom
- The document generates but variables appear blank where data should be.
- Cause
- The field is empty on the source record, or the variable path is pointing to the wrong field.
- Fix
- Open the source record in Podio (or the source platform) and verify the field has a value. If it does, check the variable path in the template — use the variable picker to re-insert the variable and verify the path is correct.
Record not found
- Symptom
- Generation fails with "record not found" or "data source unavailable."
- Cause
- The record you are generating from has been deleted from ThatApp's lake, or the platform connection is down.
- Fix
- Check that the record exists in ThatApp's Sync view. Check the connection status of the source platform (tell AVA: "What is the connection status of Podio?").
Credential expired
- Symptom
- Generation fails with an authorization error.
- Cause
- The credentials for one of the template's data sources have expired.
- Fix
- Re-authorize the affected platform. See: Managing Platform Credentials for Automations.
Template configuration error
Symptom: Generation fails with a template parsing error, or the output format is wrong (fields in the wrong place, repeating blocks not repeating).
Fix: Open the template and click Validate. ThatApp checks the template configuration and reports any errors. Fix each one and re-test.
If none of these work
Contact support at [email protected] with: the template name, the record ID you were trying to generate from, and any error message you saw. Include a screenshot if possible.
